What to expect on Sundays

We don't know what your experience of church has been previously, if any at all, but we do know that it can be quite daunting walking into something new for the first time. Because of this we try to make our meetings as friendly and accessible as possible, if you need help with anything at all during your visit you can ask one of our welcome team, they should be easy to spot - they'll be wearing bright orange!

What to expect on a Sunday morning

We have one meeting on Sunday mornings at 10.30am.

The meeting is held at the Citygate Centre on Holdenhurst Road, head to the How To Find Us page to plan your route. Parking for the morning is on the ground floor of the Asda car park opposite the centre (free for up to 3 hours).

Before the meeting

Feel free to arrive early to meet people from the church before the meeting starts at 10.30am. Our Welcome Team, will be at the door in bright orange. They would love to know if it's your first time to Citygate Church, so please feel free to say hello.

Tea and coffee is served after the meeting at around 12.00pm.

What Happens in the meeting?

Our meetings start with a time of singing, around 30 minutes or so; the band will lead us in this. If you're unfamiliar with Christian worship then please don't feel under any pressure to do what everyone else is doing. Feel free to sit or stand, and join in as you wish.

Activities for Children

We want all of your family to enjoy being at Citygate and we have a full range of children's activities that take place during the meeting. Head to the kids registration desk at the back of the auditorium to find out about what's happening that morning and to register your little ones. Read more about these activities.

During the meeting members of the church will be given the opportunity to give to the general church offering. When it gets to you, please feel no obligation to give; just let the bucket pass you by - this is for people who call Citygate their home church.

The Word

Every week one of the leaders of the church, or a visiting speaker will preach from the Bible, we tend to work through a series of messages that follow a book in the Bible or a particular theme applying the Bible to our lives today. This will often mean that there is an opportunity to be prayed with at the end of the meeting, if you would like.

Check out the home page to see who is speaking this week or click Resources to hear previous messages.

Getting to know people

After the meeting we serve tea or coffee from the back of the auditorium. The welcome team will also be there and would love to chat to you and help answer any questions you may have.

There is also a manned Connect Point at the back of the hall where you can ask any questions you like and sign up for any events or courses we run.

We look forward to seeing you there!
